I’m interested to see where the story goes, but I’m more intrigued by how much chaos I can cause once I have an even larger variety of weapons and more skill cards to play around with. So, energy levels in conversations are often a bit off. I get the sense that they’re using the same dialogue no matter which of the six heroes you pick (their dialogue is personalized). One thing that’s niggling at me so far is that speaking with NPCs feels disjointed. Given the way that I was able to chain together attacks, traps and status effects by myself, I imagine the chaos will be orders of magnitude higher with a friend or two by my side. I wasn’t able to play co-op during the preview, unfortunately. After my troubles with the intro segment, I found that I liked Amy’s speed, though, so I stuck with her. Other heroes are better fits for the likes of crowd control, heavy attacks, damage resistance and landing critical hits. She’s a Paralympian who thrives with aerial attacks - her jumping kick proved a very effective weapon against the first boss. I chose the most agile hero, Amy, to play as in the first several hours of the game (I didn’t spend much time with the other characters). Amy's the way to go if you prefer agile, quick combat in Dead Island 2.
